As 2009 closes out, and we move into 2010, we want to mark a turning point here at Nightlife also. Thoughout the past year, the posting has revolved almost solely around product reviews, and photo galleries from nightlife events thrown or attended. While this is good, it is limiting at times, and doesnt really allow for tons of information to readers, a regular posting schedule, or the building of a real community around what’s going on. This prompted a look at what can be done to expand our content base, become a really great source for nightlife related information of all sorts, and invite much more reader interaction.
Below is what I have planned so far. I strongly welcome and encourage YOUR feedback on this.
The Start doing list:
1. Videos. I recently purchased some video gear for Nightlife including Velbon VideoMATE-607
2. Fashion articles. This will focus on “going out” fashion for both genders. There will be specific article suggestions, as well as overall tips. I am super tired of seeing the “army of striped button down shirt guys” having a few pints. You can do better, and we are here to help!
3. Social advice. This will incorporate body language, conversation starters, interisting “games” to play with people you just met, group dynamics, and much more. We will endeavour to have advice for guys and girls here, and may involve guest posters.
4. A normalized posting schedule. I’d love your input on this, on what YOU want to see for this.
5. More personalized writing style. I have a backgound in psychology, and in research papers, one removes self as much as possible, and tries to be objective and follow the scientific method. Unfortunately, too many of my reviews so far, are boring and bland as a result. For those who endured them, I apologize. I will be my, witty, snarky, and social observationist self, for my enjoyment, and yours.
The Keep doing list:
1. Product reviews. Though I plan to do them on a less frequent basis.
2. Photo Galleries. These made the bulk of our posts in ’09, and will continue, but on a less frequent basis.
The Stop doing list:
1. Posting Infrequently. I know this had to be annoying to a lot of people, and probably cost us a great deal of readers. I can just imagine the questions raised about when the next post was coming, and what it is about. We don’t want to leave you in the dark anymore.
Nightlife plans to continue to do the reviews and photo galleries that have been there all along. As 2010 moves forward, the content base will be expanded in an effort to truly become THE Ultimate Nightlife related source.
In closing, I want to share a an analogy with you. When your trying to launch or take off, you have 2 choices. You can give it full throttle, everything you got, lift off, then throttle back, and enjoy a cruising altitude. OR you can give if half throttle forever, and never really take flight. Which one will YOU choose?
